Touriga Nacional wine grape

Touriga Nacional
Touriga Nacional is widely held to be Portugal’s finest black grape.  It’s best known as a port grape but in fact it originated in the Beira Alta, home of Dão, and spread north from there to the Douro.  By law it must make up at least 20% of the Dão blend, to which it contributes concentrated black fruit flavours, firm tannins and distinctive floral aromas of violets and bergamot.
