Help! @decantingclub I'm on holiday in  Pyrénées-Orientales department in southern France. What wine should I buy? So many to choose from!

In wine terms this is the Roussillon. It's very much red wine country. Look for the AOCs Collioure,  Côtes du Roussillon Villages and  Côtes du Roussillon Les Aspres.

Look out in particular for dry reds & especially whites from the Agly valley around Maury, most of which (including some of the very best) are sold as IGP Côtes Catalanes. Producers to seek out include Le Soula, Le Roc Des Anges, Clos des Fées and Domaine de l'Horizon.

In general avoid international grape varieties and go for the local ones with less familiar names - especially for whites. Do try a Banyuls or a Maury after dinner - they're sweet & fortified, like port. Mas Amiel's is superb.
