Greco wine grape
Confusingly, there are several different southern Italian varieties called Greco. This is the most important one and is the grape used to make the well-known Campanian white DOCG Greco di Tufo. It’s also found in Lazio, Campania’s northern neighbour.
It favours volcanic soils, especially the tuff (compacted volcanic ash) found across much of Campania and Lazio. It produces full-bodied, minerally whites with high, food-friendly acidity, citrus and apple-peel scents and spicy, green fruit flavours of pear and lemon.
