Gros Manseng wine grape

Gros Manseng
Gros Manseng is a French variety, called Izkiriota Zuri Handia in Basque. It has long been known that the two are identical, so you’re more likely to see Gros Manseng used on Txakoli labels. An intensely flavoured and aromatic variety best known for producing Jurançon Sec in southwest France, its wine is somewhat similar to Viognier but with notably higher acidity. Its juice is naturally grey and it has thick skins, so its wine tends to be deep in colour. It has apricot and quince flavours and spicy, floral scents.
