Tintilla / Trousseau / Bastardo wine grape
Tintilla / Trousseau / Bastardo
Tintilla may be unique to the Canaries, but is most likely the same variety as Trousseau from France’s Jura region.
This grape is also found in Portugal, where it is known as Bastardo and is one of the minor grapes in the blend for both Port and Dâo.
It produces deep cherry-red wine high in both alcohol and acidity, with red berry flavours and often a savoury, meaty quality to the nose.
