Malvasia del Lazio wine grape

Malvasia del Lazio
Malvasia Puntinata del Lazio, to give it its full title, is the best grape of the Italian region and was once dominant, but it’s hard to grow and not very productive. It isn’t actually a true Malvasia, being a cross between Muscat of Alexandria and the pale red grape Schiava Grossa. ‘Puntinata’ refers to the brown dots that appear on its yellow skin when ripe. Its small, concentrated berries yield wine with floral aromas, white fruit flavours and good structure.
