Marquis de Goulaine Cuvée du Millénaire, Muscadet de Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie

Marquis de Goulaine Cuvée du Millénaire, Muscadet de Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie

If you're fond of sand dunes, and salty air...

Here's a link to the song in case you didn't get the reference!

It's all to do with where this Muscadet is grown and bottled - and the flavours that are imparted to the wine.

To pair, match with shellfish, especially oysters, whose delicate flavours would be overpowered by a less subtle wine. Also excellent as an aperitif.

Put the pouch in the fridge when it first arrives. Serve moderately well-chilled - about 9°C or 10°C

Perfect as an aperitif, Muscadet is also the most food-friendly of white wines. It’s the traditional match for shellfish, especially oysters, whose delicate flavours would be overpowered by a less subtle wine.

But don’t stop there! Its high acidity cuts through heavy and fatty foods, while its subtle flavours don’t clash with anything. Its low alcohol makes it great with spicy food (alcohol inflames chilli heat). Whatever you’re eating, Muscadet will work.

If you see one on a restaurant winelist, don’t hesitate. Vintages really do matter in such a northerly, coastal region, but Muscadet hasn’t had a bad one since 2011.
